Cross River North Women protest against Ayade-sponsored arrests in Ogoja

Women from Cross River Northern Senatorial District have stormed the streets of Ogoja in protest against the politically-motivated arrests of their children sponsored by governor Ben Ayade.

Speaking to newsmen, the leader of the group, Madam Grace Abang, said women from Cross River north are protesting on the insistence that governor Ayade desists from further arrests of their sons and release unconditionally those already in detention by the quasi-undemocratic conspiracy of the APC-led government in the State.

“We have done everything for Ayade and he has failed us; only for him to come and arrest our children. Ayade must either release our sons or arrest all of us,” the women leader cried.


The objecting ladies maintained that the request for the release of their children and restraint on further unlawful arrests, adding that their position was from an apolitical standpoint.

The group carried placards with striking inscriptions such as: “Ayade Bring Back Our Children;” “Billboard No Dey Win Elections;” “Remember The Road That’ll Lead You Home;” “Election No Be War;” “Say No To Police Brutality;” “Ayade, Respect Our Human Rights,” etc.
